Late Ming figure of Zhenwu
A late Ming Fahua glazed figure of the Chinese deity Zhenwu.
The deity is depicted with his two attendants seated upon a throne, on a stepped base. He is wearing a turquoise-enameled dragon robe. Some elements are left unglazed revealing the grey stoneware. Zhenwu is an ancient Daoist deity who is considered a powerful god capable of controlling the elements. The glaze type is known as Fahua.
